I recently moved from bungalow to bungalow, from District to State. Today was a beautiful Spring day – it was cool and dry and just in advance of an impending storm – perfect conditions for a landscaping project.
There’s a thin strip of land between my main sidewalk and my driveway. Its too small to be bothered with mowing. I needed to be able to get from my car to the front door without wearing the usual squashed-grass and mud pathway that usually shows up on a well-travelled lawn.
I bought mulch, and odd pavers, and river pebbles and semi permeable sheeting. I can always go back, move aside the mulch, cut an “x” with my utility knife and begin putting some nice planting into the space. In preparation for this eventuality, I turned the soil, and metal-raked it and cultivated it to break the clumps, and covered it with sheeting to prevent re-growth and covered it with mulch.
Attached, are the before and after pics, enhanced a bit with motion sensitive LED lighting which I’ll find a way to permanently install on the walkway.
Here’s the before and afters:
Very nice, Eric! 🙂
